Central Valley hospital now delivers excellent services

One of the best things about living in Central Valley is that a great number of services are within your reach. Take this featured hospital in Modesto, for example. Continue reading to learn about Central Valley Specialty Hospital’s journey to provide excellent service, not only for locals, but for people living all over the region.

On the road to progress

Central Valley Specialty Hospital in Modesto is undergoing an image and service revamp. Last March, the facility underwent an inspection that delivered less-than-stellar results. According to state health officials, Central Valley Specialty Hospital failed to meet Medicare requirements, particularly in the areas of infection control, patient rights, food services, quality improvement, nursing, and patient rights.

That’s all in the past, however.

It’s amazing what a couple of months can do to a hospital keen on rehabilitating its public image and improving its services.

According to this latest article on the Central Valley Specialty Hospital by Modesto Bee, the owner, Gurpreet Singh, and the rest of the management has taken great leaps and strides to make the hospital better.

First of the major changes is the new chief executive officer. Gia Smith, who was CEO when the survey was done, was replaced by Elliott North. Second is the two new additions to the management team: Chris Lowey as Chief of Operations and Sony Sidhu as Chief Nursing Officer.

Mr. Singh also brought in a hospitalist group and infection control experts to keep Central Valley Specialty Hospital up to par with Medicare standards.

Third, Central Valley Specialty Hospital invested in SafetyNet, a bedside monitoring program. The system religiously keeps tabs on patients’ vitals and other data, then sends a distress text to staff in case something unusual was noted.

From lacking to outstanding

Central Valley Specialty Hospital isn’t your ordinary medical facility. It specializes in long-term acute care, which means dealing with the most complex medical situations.

Since the March survey was published, the number of patients opting to go to similar facilities in Sacramento and the Bay Area understandably increased. Now, however, Central Valley Specialty Hospital is seeing the number of referrals, especially patients who need rehab or therapy, rise.

To date, Central Valley Specialty Hospital prides itself for the following results:

Central Valley Specialty Hospital will soon participate in another survey to review its status. But for now, Gurpreet Singh believes that addressing the highlighted concerns will put them on the green.

“We are moving in the right direction,” Mr. Singh told Modesto Bee.
