California Mandates Face masks Amid Rising Coronavirus Cases

Governor Gavin Newson issued a statewide order on Thursday, June 18th, 2020. His order: Californians are now required to wear face masks in public places.

Since California began opening up, we’ve seen a climb start, specifically around the bay and LA county where most foot traffic is at. As beaches, stores, and public general attractions start opening up, people are disregarding social distancing and gather in large groups. Newson states “Hospitalization numbers are just starting to creep back up, and I’m very concerned by what we’re seeing”.

Instead of reverting back to self-isolation, there is potential to limit the spread by persistently wearing a face mask and maintaining a 6-feet distance from other families or people outside your household.

Although unknown how this law will be enforced, here are some details.

People are required to wear face masks or any other form of covering in public places including but not limited to public transportation, seeking medical care, shopping, and work.

Some might be able to get away without wearing a mask. Anyone with a medical condition, whether it be physical or mental, that prevents them from wearing a face-covering is free from wearing one. Furthermore, children under the age of 2 are exempt from the law. If you decide to go out and eat, you must wear the masks until the food is handed to you, while still maintaining a 6-foot distance from others outside your household.

This doesn’t change anything from our usual practice. Soldavi agents have been and continue to have a healthy practice by wearing masks to every meeting and showing, and carry hand sanitizer.
