Chowchilla

Chowchilla is a hidden gem in Madera County, nestled between Fresno and Merced. Chowchilla realtors and residents alike appreciate the city for its quiet and peaceful atmosphere, close-knit community, and mild Mediterranean climate.

The development of the Chowchilla area can be attributed to Orlando Alison Robertson, a land developer who organized the United States Farm Land Company. He saw the potential of Chowchilla and purchased a huge ranch property in 1912. He eventually divided the land and sold it to farmers, preserving the northeast section of the ranch to become what we know today as Chowchilla. Soon after, the town grew and was incorporated in 1923.

Chowchilla is a growing community with a variety of recreational amenities for all its residents to enjoy. The city is accessible via Highway 99, which runs north-south, and California 233, which enters from the west side of the city.
